Russia drafts first Russian-Chinese Investment Index

The National coordinating center for international business cooperation, working together with the RAS Institute of China and Contemporary Asia and the A1 investment company, have drafted Russia’s first index to forecast Chinese investments in various regions of Russia..

The Russian-Chinese Investment Index (Index A1) identifies the most promising regions for Chinese investors based on various statistical indicators. The A1 index will be useful both for regional administrations in order to improve their potential for investment from China, and for Russian and Chinese business in general. The index will be published quarterly in Russia and China.

“Investors from China today provide the lion's share of foreign direct investment in Russia. However, until now no one has assessed the potential of Russian regions for Chinese investors. We tried to calculate which regions can count on an influx of investment from China in the near future. Later on, we plan to do the same for sectors of the Russian economy,” Kirill Babayev, head of the Index Development Group, RAS ICCA director, said.
